Our Bed & Breakfast

A little history…

The Manchester was built in 1842, then the property was a 100 acre homestead known as Dundrennan Farm. At that time only a handful of rugged pioneers called the village of Manchester, and the nearby larger settlement of Port Perry, home. The original house sits proudly upon a massive fieldstone foundation, and is constructed with bricks made from the red clay of its own land. It is the earliest brick house in Reach County.

Manchester Bed & Breakfast

Many of its early Victorian features still remain, the distinctive front entranceway with decorative fanlight and sidelight , impressive double doors, as well as six over six windows. Original interior finishes such as the staircase and handrail, doors and trim, baseboard and fireplace surrounds, give the home a warm cozy and inviting feeling.

Today, the Manchester is a 1 acre property surrounded by agricultural land, and, with several additions over the years has become a sprawling 5000 sq ft home. It is still a tranquil country setting, perfect for enjoying a lazy afternoon and a restful night’s sleep

Modern convenience spiced with old world charm, all rooms offer private three piece washrooms, queen sized beds, HDTV’s, WiFi.

I had a wonderful stay at the Manchester Bed & Breakfast. The room was lovely with an attached sitting area and a spacious ensuite. It was not only beautifully decorated but was very clean and comfortable. Mike and Karen are kind, friendly and just all round lovely people. They made me feel right at home the minute I walked in. Their home is situated on a lovely piece of property just a few short minutes from town. I highly recommend a visit to the Manchester B&B. Thank you Mike and Karen for your hospitality.
